Marlene Thomas

Marlene Thomas is Head of International Business at Foundation Medicine. A seasoned professional with a passion for advancing precision medicine, Marlene brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in cancer research, clinical and biomarker development and market implementation.

In her current position, Thomas works closely with diagnostic affiliates outside the United States to ensure patients and customers benefit from Foundation Medicine’s high-quality genomic profiling tests and services, as well as liquid biopsy solutions.

Prior to joining Foundation Medicine, Thomas held roles of increasing responsibility at Roche. In 2023, Thomas was appointed Head of Comprehensive Genomic Profiling Portfolio Strategy, where she led a OneRoche virtual business team uniting people and products from all parts of Roche and Foundation Medicine to drive the adoption of comprehensive genomic profiling in clinical care and advance precision medicine in oncology. In 2017, as Senior International Scientific Director at the PHC Center of Excellence, Thomas led the International Medical Team for Foundation Medicine to ensure the successful global implementation of the company’s services. While at Roche Pharma Germany, Thomas built and led the Medical Affairs Personalized Healthcare team, which managed translational research studies and covered Foundation Medicine services and the Roche companion diagnostics portfolio across disease areas in collaboration with the German Diagnostics affiliate.

Thomas received her Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
